A post-mortem has revealed that 24-year-old Harshita Brella, found dead in a car boot, died from strangulation. Police suspect her husband, Pankaj Lamba, 23, killed her on November 10, before driving her body to Ilford, east London, where it was discovered four days later.
Lamba is believed to have fled the country, and his whereabouts are unknown. A missing persons investigation began after Ms. Brella was reported missing on November 13. Authorities have since released CCTV footage showing a silver Vauxhall Corsa, which is believed to have been used to transport her body.
Ms. Brella had previously been the victim of domestic violence, and a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO) had been placed against Lamba in September. Police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact with Ms. Brella.
Ms. Brella’s family, particularly her father Satbir Brella, has called for justice. Detectives are urging anyone with information about Lamba’s movements to come forward, as every detail could aid in solving the case.
An inquest into Harshita’s death will open on Wednesday in Northampton.
