he United Kingdom has officially extended its e-visa service to Pakistani travellers, allowing visitors to receive visa approvals digitally instead of traditional passport stickers, the British High Commission confirmed on Wednesday.
Previously introduced in July 2025, the e-visa system was restricted to students and work visa applicants. However, under the new update, Pakistani tourists and general visitors can now also benefit from this modern digital facility.
According to the British High Commission, applicants will continue submitting their visa applications online and visiting a visa application centre for biometric verification. Once approved, travellers will receive digital visa confirmation via email, eliminating the need to revisit the centre for passport collection.

Successful applicants will be issued an online immigration status record, accessible through a UK Visas and Immigration account, enabling travellers to generate a share code for verification at border checkpoints and official locations.
The High Commission emphasized that processing timelines, eligibility requirements, and visa conditions remain unchanged, while the e-visa system offers enhanced security, convenience, and document protection.
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott described the initiative as a significant milestone for Pakistani travellers, highlighting that it saves time and simplifies visa verification.
In a video message posted on her official X account, she stated that nearly all visitors travelling to the UK can now use the e-visa service, allowing them to keep their passports throughout the process.
This initiative aligns with the UK government’s digital immigration transformation policy, launched in 2024, aiming to replace physical documentation with a fully online visa management system.
