PESHAWAR – Security forces thwarted a cross-border infiltration attempt in North Waziristan’s Hassan Khel area, neutralizing three armed terrorists on the night of November 25-26, according to the ISPR.
The attackers were spotted attempting to breach the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In response, Pakistani forces engaged and eliminated the threat. ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s call for the Afghan interim government to ensure effective border control and prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism.
In a separate development, police and security forces repelled an assault on a police station and a checkpoint in Birmal, South Waziristan, on Monday night. Gunfire exchanged at the Raghzai police station lasted an hour, marking the sixth attack this month. Another rocket attack on a security post in Ghorlama was also thwarted.
Additionally, a peace committee member narrowly escaped a bomb blast near Wana-Kari Kot Road on Tuesday. The remote-controlled device targeted Saifur Rehman Wazir’s vehicle, injuring his colleague. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Security forces remain committed to protecting the borders and eradicating terrorism across the region.
