Politics Home Latest Pakistan World

Islamabad, Pakistan – Imran Khan health update has become a major topic across Pakistan after his sister Aleema Khan rejected government claims that the former prime minister’s eyesight has significantly improved. The family has expressed serious concerns over the credibility of the medical report issued by a government-appointed medical board.

According to official sources, doctors examined Imran Khan at Adiala Jail and reported an improvement in his right eye vision, while his left eye remained stable with corrective glasses. However, Aleema Khan strongly denied these claims, stating that neither Khan’s personal doctor nor any family member was allowed to be present during the examination, making the findings unacceptable.

She described the situation as alarming and insisted that independent medical access must be granted immediately. The family has renewed its demand for Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Aasim Yusuf, Chief Medical Officer of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital and one of Khan’s personal physicians, said he was briefed by the examining doctors but could not independently verify the report. Without direct assessment, he stated, it is impossible to confirm whether Imran Khan’s eyesight has truly improved.

Earlier, a court-appointed observer had highlighted serious concerns over delayed medical care, noting that Khan suffered substantial vision loss over the past few months. This report intensified public debate and increased pressure on authorities to ensure transparency.

Meanwhile, PTI leaders and supporters staged protests outside parliament, demanding immediate medical access and accountability. Party officials accused the government of deliberately restricting family visits and medical consultations, warning of continued demonstrations if their demands remain unmet.

On the other hand, Pakistan government officials defended the medical board, claiming all procedures were conducted according to official rules and that Khan received proper healthcare inside jail facilities.

Imran Khan, a former cricket world champion and Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has been imprisoned since August 2023. His detention and health condition continue to dominate Pakistan political news, drawing attention from international human rights organizations.
