Tonight, Pakistan will experience the final supermoon of 2024, set to rise at 2:28 AM PST, according to renowned astronomer Dr. Javed Iqbal. This supermoon will appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual, offering a breathtaking celestial display.
Dr. Iqbal explained that during this phenomenon, the moon will be positioned at a distance of 360,378 kilometers from Earth, compared to its usual average distance of 384,400 kilometers.
Earlier this year, on August 20, Pakistan saw its first supermoon of 2024. That event, known as the “Blue Supermoon,” was particularly mesmerizing as it marked the rare occurrence of both a supermoon and a blue moon happening together, a spectacle that only takes place once every decade. People in cities like Karachi, Quetta, and Lahore were among those who marveled at the stunning view.
The larger, brighter moon during the Blue Supermoon cast an enchanting glow, captivating skywatchers nationwide. Now, as the year’s final supermoon rises tonight, the phenomenon is expected to once again dazzle stargazers with its remarkable brilliance.
