Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has called the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) November 24 protest call “inappropriate” at this time. Speaking on a private news channel, he expressed concern that PTI’s continuous protests were losing their impact. He advised PTI leaders to take decisive action, instead of prolonging street demonstrations, which he believes are not achieving their intended goals.
He drew a comparison to JUI’s past protests, saying that despite holding 14 million marches, they maintained control over their workers, ensuring no disruptions or property damage. Fazlur Rehman criticized PTI’s protest strategy as incomplete and warned that it is becoming increasingly ineffective.
Meanwhile, PTI’s imprisoned leader Imran Khan announced the November 24 protest in Islamabad, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, urged PTI members to prepare strategies to avoid arrests during the protest. The Islamabad administration, in anticipation, has imposed Section 144, prohibiting gatherings of five or more people in the city, including in the high-security Red Zone.
