Greg Brockman, the co-founder of OpenAI, has rejoined the artificial intelligence company, just three months after stepping down from his role as president. The announcement was made via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, with OpenAI confirming his return.
Brockman has reportedly been collaborating with CEO Sam Altman to craft a new position that will allow him to focus on major technical challenges at the company, according to Bloomberg News, which was the first to report the news.
On X, Brockman shared, “Longest vacation of my life complete. Back to building @OpenAI.”
His return follows a wave of exits from the company, including former Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, co-founder John Schulman, and co-founder Ilya Sutskever. Both Sutskever and Murati have since launched their own AI ventures.
Altman, who was controversially ousted by OpenAI’s board in 2023, also resumed his leadership role later that year after a period of uncertainty.
