Islamabad: Consumers facing heavy electricity bills have received some good news, as they are likely to get relief through the monthly fuel adjustment for October.
According to details, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a request for a reduction of 1.01 rupees per unit in the price of electricity under the monthly fuel adjustment for October. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hold a public hearing on November 26 to discuss the matter.
The CPPA reported that 9.98 billion units of electricity were sold in October, with the fuel cost per unit remaining at 9.26 rupees. Electricity was generated through various sources, including 31.06% from water, 14.79% from local coal, 8.79% from imported coal, 8.05% from local gas, 19.51% from imported LNG, and 14.05% from nuclear fuel.
Additionally, in a related development, the federal Ministry of Finance had earlier reported a 160 billion rupees deficit for Punjab in the first quarter, but by November 15, it was revised to a surplus of 40 billion rupees.
