The federal government has officially unveiled the Hajj Policy for 2025, outlining important guidelines for pilgrims and how payments will be handled.
The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, who provided key insights into the policy. According to the Hajj Policy 2025, the total Hajj quota will be split evenly between government and private schemes, with each receiving 50% of the allocation. Additionally, children under the age of 12 will be ineligible to perform Hajj this year.
In terms of compensation, the policy ensures that the families of deceased pilgrims will receive Rs2 million, while injured pilgrims will also be entitled to compensation. A significant change in the payment structure is the introduction of an installment-based payment system for Hajj fees, with priority given to first-time pilgrims. However, individuals suffering from severe or contagious diseases will be excluded from this year’s pilgrimage.
Minister Chaudhry Salik emphasized that efforts would be made to prevent any reduction in the pilgrimage quota, and any unused quota from the sponsored scheme would be allocated to general pilgrims. Additionally, a special quota of 5,000 has been reserved for overseas Pakistanis.
The cost for performing Hajj in 2025 will range between Rs1.075 million and Rs1.175 million, with a refund of Rs100,000 to be issued to those who have already paid. The payment can be made in three installments: Rs200,000 with the application, Rs400,000 after the lottery, and the remaining balance before departure.
The policy also addresses refund procedures: no deductions will be made if funds are withdrawn before the application deadline. However, a Rs50,000 deduction will be applied if a refund is requested after the lottery, and Rs200,000 will be deducted if the third installment is unpaid. After February 10, no refunds will be issued, though deductions will be waived in the event of a pilgrim’s death.
This policy provides clear guidelines and assistance to ensure a smoother and more organized Hajj experience for 2025.
