Imran Khan eye health concerns were dismissed on Monday as Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar assured that there was “nothing serious to worry about” regarding the PTI founder’s reported vision loss.
His statement came after the Supreme Court was informed that former prime minister Imran Khan had reportedly lost 85 percent of vision in his right eye, prompting the formation of a medical board to assess his condition. Following court orders, a five-member medical team visited Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Sunday and conducted a detailed eye examination, blood tests, and blood pressure monitoring.
However, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rejected the medical check-up, stating that it was carried out without the presence of Imran’s family and personal doctors.
Speaking at the Bar Association in Ferozewala, Punjab, Law Minister Tarar said that after reviewing the latest medical report and consulting with Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, doctors confirmed that Imran’s eyesight had significantly improved.
According to Tarar, with the use of corrective glasses, one of Imran’s eyes has around 70 percent vision, while the other has normal 6/6 vision. He emphasized that there is no immediate health risk and urged political parties to focus on national stability.
Meanwhile, Imran’s personal physician Dr Aasim Yusuf welcomed reports of improvement but requested authorities to allow independent medical access. He urged that Imran be shifted to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for further evaluation, citing better medical facilities.
The PTI and Imran’s family have continued to demand independent medical oversight, maintaining that transparency is essential in ensuring proper healthcare for the former premier.
