Israeli airstrikes killed at least 11 Palestinians in Gaza early Sunday morning, according to Palestinian civil defense and health officials, as tensions continue to rise despite an ongoing ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that six people were killed in a strike on a tent camp in northern Gaza, while five others died in a separate airstrike in southern Gaza. Several people were also injured in the attacks.

The Israeli military said it carried out the strikes after Hamas militants allegedly violated the ceasefire, claiming fighters emerged from underground tunnels into Israeli-controlled zones. According to Israeli officials, the operation targeted what they described as terror-related infrastructure.

Since the ceasefire began on 10 October, both Israel and Hamas have accused each other of repeated violations. The Gaza Health Ministry says more than 600 people have been killed since the truce started, while local authorities report dozens more casualties from recent waves of airstrikes.

The latest attacks come as preparations continue for the second phase of a US-backed ceasefire plan, which includes international peacekeeping forces and post-war reconstruction efforts. A new international body, the Board of Peace, is set to oversee border security, Hamas disarmament, and governance reforms in Gaza.

Indonesia has announced it will deploy 8,000 soldiers to Gaza under this framework, while diplomatic efforts continue between world leaders to prevent further escalation.

The war began after the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, which killed around 1,200 people and resulted in 251 hostages. Since then, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed more than 71,800 people, according to Gaza’s health authorities.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently met US President Donald Trump in Washington to discuss regional security concerns, including Iran’s nuclear program, as diplomatic talks continue.
